Shopping Trips
Getting out and about to buy your groceries and weekly shopping can be daunting if you have limited access to transport or have recently surrendered your driver’s license. One of the key objectives of the community bus is to help seniors live independently, and our weekly shopping trips are a great way to help make this easier and more accessible.
Storage For Bags & Walking Frames
Our buses have plenty of room and a large luggage rack so we can comfortably transport you and your shopping along with any walking aids. As many of our clients live on their own, the weekly shopping bus provides a great way to meet new friends or can be used to catch up with friends at a local coffee shop.
Shopping Centre Bus Trip Times
Our weekly shopping trips usually last for approximately 2 hours at each centre. Depending on your location, pick-up is generally between 8.30 to 11 am.
On arrival at the shopping centre, your driver will tell you when and where to meet for the return trip. Where possible, shopping centre drop-off and collection points will remain the same every week.

Healthcare / Medical Trips
Every Tuesday, our volunteers are available to drive you to your healthcare and medical appointments in the local area. We support all types of healthcare and allied health services, so we can take you to your doctors’ appointments, dentists, physio, chiro, x-rays, occupational therapists, podiatrists or any other health or wellbeing appointments.
Simply book your medical appointments on a Tuesday and call us with the location and times at least 24 hours in advance. The more notice we have, the better, as this enables us to plan our drivers and bus routes more effectively.
Door To Door Bus Service
Our friendly drivers will come and collect you from your home at least fifteen minutes to half an hour before your appointment starts. Depending on our schedule, your driver may wait for you if it’s a short appointment or will arrange a time to collect you. If you are visiting a doctor and need to visit a pharmacy to collect a script, your driver will also take you to collect this before dropping you home.
Day Trips & Outings
Our volunteers run a series of fun day trips at least once a month. Places on the day trip need to be booked at least one week in advance. Pick-up is usually between 8.30-9.30 am and we aim to have you back home by 3 or 4 pm, depending on where we have been.
Connecting You With The Community
Willunga District Community Bus is all about connecting people in the community and what better way to get out than joining us for an enjoyable day trip. Everyone is welcome and we often have a great mix of people on our day trips, making them a great social event.
Day Trips Itinerary
We offer various day trips to ensure we have something for everyone. We are always open to new ideas for our trips, so please let us know if there is something you would like to do.
There is not much we haven’t done. We’ve been tasting at the chocolate factory, antiques shopping in Strathalbyn, learned all about Adelaide’s history in the city tour and enjoyed the beautiful autumn colours at Mount Lofty Ranges. We’ve also sampled local produce in Hahndorf and the Beerenberg Café as well as had shopping days at Burnside shopping centre and Ikea so we cater for a wide variety of interests.
You do not need to be a member to book a trip with us.
